Dive into the excitement with the Newbie Run Club— a Couch to 5k training plan designed for first-time runners and walkers gearing up for the Rock The Parkway 5k. Our dedicated coaches are your personal guides, perfect for those taking their first 5k leap, returning from a running hiatus, or aiming for a second triumphant run. Once again, we continue our partnership with the flat and festive Rock the Parkway 5k event so lace up your shoes, hit the pavement, and let’s turn your 5k aspirations into a reality!

Meet your Coach Sharon Fleming

Hi, I’m Sharon Fleming, MSPT, UESCA-certified run coach, and owner of Endurance Running! With over 20 years as a physical therapist and a lifetime passion for running, I specialize in helping new runners find their stride. As a certified gait analyst and running specialist, I’m here to guide you every step of the way—from lacing up your first pair of running shoes to crossing the finish line of your first 5k.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or returning after time off, the Newbie Run Club is designed to build your confidence, strength, and love for running in a supportive, fun, and welcoming environment. My approach combines personalized coaching with proven techniques to help you progress safely and joyfully. Let’s make running a part of your story—I can’t wait to be YOUR coach!

Steps to the Newbie Run Club

Kick Off Meeting

Monday January 27th FREE Info meeting at our Mission Location from 7pm-8pm

At this meeting you will meet Coach Sharon, Gather your Freebies and meet your fellow runners in the Newbie Run Club. During this time we’ll also ask the group what times everyone would like to get together for in person sessions and coordinate housekeeping details. 

Understanding the Training Plan

Our coaches will guide you through a training plan designed to help you build endurance and confidence as you work toward your 5k goal. The program incorporates a gradual approach, allowing you to progress at a steady, manageable pace.

Weekly Runs and Virtual Check-Ins

Once a week you will meet in person to have a group run together and meet in person to discuss your training.  In addition, there will be weekly virtual checkins to talk about any challenges you face and adjust your training plan should it need to be adjusted.
